Open AI ChatGPT Atlas web browser Features, How to download and use it

OpenAI announced Tuesday that it is launching an AI-powered web browser called Atlas that integrates directly with ChatGPT. This will compete directly with the widely used Google Chrome. The company says Atlas will first roll out on macOS, with promises to bring it to Windows, Android, and iOS soon.

OpenAI states that the product will be available to all free users at launch. When OpenAI launched the ChatGPT Atlas Browser, the internet lit up with excitement. This isn’t just another Chrome that looks similar or a privacy experiment.

Features of ChatGPT Atlas:

Users can download Atlas from chatgpt.com/atlas. They can import bookmarks, passwords, and history from their existing browsers. According to OpenAI, Atlas allows ChatGPT to assist users directly on web pages, eliminating the need to switch tabs or copy and paste. From booking flights and editing documents to summarizing articles and finding recipe ingredients, all can be done on ChatGPT Atlas.

Agent Mode:

ChatGPT Atlas can perform more actions like you. Agent Mode turns ChatGPT into a smart assistant that is capable of planning a trip, shopping online, or booking appointments across different websites. This feature is currently in preview for Plus, Pro, and Business users. Agent Mode in Atlas is more than a simple chat; it goes beyond that by taking action.

Browser Memories:

This is the standout feature of Atlas Browser. For example, if you are searching for any job openings or recipe ingredients and then you close that tab. Then open it again in another tab with the same topic, it will save that as memory. The next time you search on the same topic, it recalls everything and gives you the most accurate response.

Privacy Controls:

Users can view, edit, or delete stored data anytime. In incognito mode it ensures that no memory is saved when privacy is preferred. Your browsing content isn’t used to train AI models like Genie 3 AI, and you can always turn memory off so you stay in control.

How to download and use Chatgpt Atlas

  • Download from chatgpt.com/atlas using your macOS browser.
  • Click the download button to get the .dmg installer file.
  • Open the app from Applications and follow the setup instructions.
  • You can set this browser as the default one in Settings.
  • Login with your ChatGPT account in order to bring your memories straight into the new browser.
  • You will also get the option to import your bookmarks, passwords, and history from Chrome/Safari/Firefox.

After downloading Atlas, in the address bar, type what you want to search directly and then hit enter. Atlas will perform a web search and give the correct response using its built-in search engine.
